Xiaomi announced this milestone on its official Weibo account, and also revealed that at its peak it had sold 103,000 Mi Bands in a single day. To put this achievement in perspective, a recent Canalys report reveals that around five million wearable devices were shipped worldwide in Q3, 2014. While this number doesn t include the Mi Band, it still gives an idea of just how popular the Mi Band is.
The Mi Band was announced alongside the flagship Mi 4 in July this year. It is a fitness tracker with IP67 certification and a battery life of up to 30 days. Additionally, it is also a proximity unlocker for your Xiaomi smartphone. So if you are holding your Xiaomi smartphone in the same hand as you re wearing the band, the smartphone will unlock without a password.
