OnePlus has launched a new OxygenOS update for its latest flagship, the OnePlus 6. OyxgenOS 5.1.5 comes days after the company launched its first update, the OxygenOS 5.1.3 for the OnePlus 6. This new update does not bring any changes on the surface except “general bug fixes and stability improvements”. Users who have received their OnePlus 6 devices and have already upgraded to OxygenOS 5.1.3 will have to install this new update.
The buyers who are yet to receive their OnePlus 6 will have to apply at least two updates depending on the version number that ships out the device. The previous update came along with May Android security patch, OnePlus Switch app, ability to show or hide the notch with software black bar, support for super slow motion video with 1080p video recording at 240fps and the 720p at 480fps. Talking about the updates, OnePlus 6 is the first device from OnePlus to add support to seamless Android updates.

For people who don’t know, seamless Android updates is relatively a new method that Google devised to apply new software updates to a smartphone while reducing the interruptions for the user. This is also known as A/B system updates where the smartphone maker has to add two system partitions in a smartphone so that users can always have a bootable system to access.
This allows the system to apply upgrades to B system partition in the background as the user continues to use the A partition or vice-versa. Google initially launched this new update mechanism with its Google Pixel and Pixel XL and later the Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.
