The OnePlus 6 is now receiving the OTA update for the latest version of its system software, OxygenOS 5.1.9. The new update is available as an OTA for OnePlus users on the stock software, and roll-out will be gradual as always and will reach all users of the OnePlus 6 over the next few days. The update size is 342MB and notably also brings the OnePlus 6 onto the July Android security patch from Google.
Big improvements to the phone come in the camera department, as OnePlus has likely tweaked some of the algorithms and software that goes into getting better photos on the phone. Also on the camera front, a beauty mode for selfie portrait shots has been added. OnePlus earlier added the selfie portrait mode itself through an OTA update, soon after the launch of the OnePlus 6.
The third big change on the camera front is the addition of Google Lens mode in the native camera app. This allows users to do Google Lens AI image detection scans directly through the phone’s main camera app, through a separate mode which can be accessed by swiping up within the camera app. Google Lens mode earlier rolled out to the OnePlus 5 and 5T through the open beta program.

On the system front, there are a few big changes as well. Apart from the Android security patch update, issues with accidental touches that triggered gestures have been fixed, Wi-Fi stability has been optimized, and a Bluetooth stability issue for connections with car audio kits has also been fixed. Apart from this, general bug fixes and improvements are also present, as is usually the case.
