China-based smartphone maker OnePlus has just announced the roll out the OxygenOS Open Beta version 5 for its OnePlus 6 devices in the market. The company shared the details about the changes in this new version in a dedicated post on its official OnePlus forums. Before we dive in the changes. for the uninitiated, Open Beta builds are like public beta builds by OnePlus where the company tests out new features for its supported devices. Once the company is done with testing the new feature additions or under-the-hood improvements, the company merges the changes to the stable update. The company usually releases one new Open Beta build in every two weeks.

According to the OnePlus forum blog post, the company has updated the Open Beta versions to include October Android security patch along with improvements to the UI (user interface) of the power off menu. OnePlus has also improved the user interface for the screenshot interface. There are no additional things mentioned in the changelog but it is likely that the company is working on a number of under-the-hood changes that make optimizations to and fixing any potential bugs in the system improving the stability or the overall operating system.

OnePlus staff manager responsible for Beta program and developer relations, Manu J added a warning in the post stating that this is a beta version. It is likely that this version may have some bugs and it may not be as stable as the final version of the OS that the company usually rolls out over the air.

The post also noted that Open Beta users can go to the OnePlus Community app to file bug reports. To do this, they need to tap on the profile of the user, tap on ‘Feedback’, press the ‘+’ icon, add a category to the feedback and add all the details along with an option to capture the log of the device. Users can also use the OnePlus Community app to record app logs in the background. This comes days after the company rolled out Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS 9.1 for OnePlus 6 users.
