Panasonic has unveiled a new smartphone in its Eluga series called the Eluga Mark 2. Successor to the Eluga Mark smartphone, the Eluga Mark 2 is priced at Rs 10,499 and it is a Flipkart exclusive. Sale of the new smartphone is set to commence tomorrow. Panasonic’s Eluga Mark 2 comes almost a year after its predecessor the Eluga Mark was launched. The Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 flaunts a full metal body with aircraft grade aluminum alloy which the company says gives three times higher heat dissipating capacity. In addition to the launch of the Eluga Mark 2, Flipkart will also be hosting a Panasonic Phone Fest between November 23-25. During this time, Panasonic smartphones like the Eluga Note, the Eluga Turbo and the P66 will be available with deals, exchange offer and also a discount of 10 percent on SBI credit and debit cards.
Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 specifications
The Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 features a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trail glass protection and topped with On-Cell Touch technology. Under the hood is a MediaTek 6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, and paired with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
In the photography department, the smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with 5P lens element for capturing maximum light in photos. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 88-degrees wide-angle view. The device also features a fingerprint sensor, which is embedded on the back panel just below the rear camera lens. The fingerprint scanner also doubles as a button to click selfies.
The Eluga Mark 2’s connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IR blaster and USB OTG support. For power, the smartphone uses a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and is also equipped with Android-For-Work functionality for additional security.
As more smartphone companies are banking on the 4G VoLTE market in India, the competition is increasing especially in affordable segment. At this price point, the Panasonic Eluga Mark 2 will face competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 1s Eco, and the Intex Aqua Music to name a few. Xiaomi s most popular smartphone the Redmi Note 3 is priced at Rs 9,999 and comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage which is expandable via a microSD card. In the photography department, the Redmi Note 3 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based MIUI 7 and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and is also equipped with 4G VoLTE support. While the Redmi Note 3 offers more at a similar price range, there is a slightly more expensive variant worth considering as well. This variant, priced at Rs 11,999, comes with 3GB RAM, and 32GB onboard storage.
LeEco s Le 1s Eco is priced at Rs 9,999, and it too has the advantage of a 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone also features a 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio octa-core processor, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with a custom eUI. Buyers are also entitled to 1 year of LeEco’s free content membership that offers users access to wide range of music, movies, live concerts and more.
The third smartphone in the list, the Intex Aqua Music is priced at Rs 9,317. It features a 5.5-inch HD display, MediaTek quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and microSD card slot. It also comes with 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 3,400mAh battery, dual-speakers and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
