Facebook Home finally became available on Google s Play Store after what seemed like a long wait for many social media aficionados. But a lot of them were left disappointed because the launcher app only seemed to work for people in the US, even if they had required device. The folks at Modaco.com have now come to their rescue and posted a patched version of Home, which removes the unnecessary app requirements and promises to work on any Android device. Though Facebook had mentioned that Home for now would only work on the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 4, it failed to mention that the app was not supported outside the US.
The folks at Modaco.com have posted a set of patched APKs for Home that skips the device and country check and thus will work on any Android device. To install these APKs you will need to uninstall your existing Facebook and Messenger applications as you will also need to download the patched versions of those apps. Once you ve done that, just download and install the APKs for the patched Facebook main app (katana), the patched Messenger app (orca) and the patched Facebook Home app. After you are done downloading when you sign in on FB, you can head over to the app s settings menu to enable Home.
We aren t sure how well this patched Home works, but if you remember these were the guys who posted the pre-release Home APKs on their site, so they know what they are doing. If you are tired of waiting and are planning to try Home, do let us know how it works for you.
