After launching the Pebble Time last week, Pebble has today unveiled a new smartwatch called the Pebble Time Steel. The smartwatch is available in silver, black and a gold variant with red strap. As seen in the above image, the gold variant is a mirror image of the Apple Watch Edition. The gold watch face and the red straps seem to have been directly lifted off Apple s design books. Unlike the Apple Watch Edition though, the Pebble Time Steel is only a dressed up version of the Pebble Time. Pebble s new smartwatch boasts a new 64-color e-paper display and a completely new Timeline UI.
The UI is segregated into three parts Past, Present, and Future. Under the first category you can check emails, step counts for the day, or a match score from a game you missed last night, under future you can check what s coming up next like schedules, reminders, movie timings. As for the present by clicking a button you can keep a tab on the stock market, and what songs you re playing. The new UI is compatible with more than 6,500 existing Pebble apps and watchfaces.
The Pebble Time Steel promises a battery life of 10 days, which is three more than the Pebble Time. It will retail at $299, but is available on Kickstarter for an early bird price of $250. As per reports, the Apple Watch Edition will cost an arm, leg and more.
