With less than 12 hours to go for Samsung’s Galaxy Note7 global launch event, leaked photos and details about the next-generation Note phablet are still pouring in. Over the past few months, we have already come across leaked photos, rumored specifications and features, videos of phone demoing the user interface, features and more. Now, in the latest leak, photos of the Galaxy Note7 retail packaging and the actual phone have surfaced. Unlike the previous leaks with blurry photos, the latest one in question offer the cleanest look at the actual device. From the photos, we can see the Galaxy Note7 pictured with dual-edge curved display in full glory. Also, while the Galaxy S7 edge had smooth curves on the edges, the Galaxy Note7 edges are slightly larger and boxier. From the photos, we can see the front panel with the camera module, iris scanner and earpiece sitting above the screen, the physical home button at the bottom, which would also house a fingerprint scanner. The back of the handset has the protruding camera module with LED flash, heart rate sensor and the Samsung logo placed beneath it. Surprisingly, the retail box cover has a mention of Spigen on it, which is an accessory maker. Putting it into perspective, it is difficult to confirm the legitimacy of the leak, but that s something common with all other leaks too.
Samsung Galaxy Note7 specifications
The Galaxy Note7 is expected to flaunt a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED dual edge curved display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It could either be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor or Samsung s Exynos 8890 octa-core processor based on the region. India is most likely to get the Exynos variant, as it was the case in the past. With 4GB of RAM, Samsung could also up the minimum onboard storage to 64GB of onboard storage, along with a microSD card slot that could accept cards up to 256GB.
With a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera of aperture f/1.7, PDAF, LED flash and 4K video recording capabilities, a 5-megapixel selfie camera is also likely to be in tow. Armed with a 3,500mAh battery, support for wireless fast charging and fast charging via USB Type-C cable is also expected. On the connectivity front, we are likely to see 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS. Galaxy Note7 will also include an iris scanner for biometric authentication.
Samsung Galaxy Note7 features
The much rumored redesigned S-Pen with improved functionality is expected. Samsung has also reportedly made some tweaks to software, with features such as creating GIFs from videos, translating words and more. What s more? The Galaxy Note7 is expected to feature IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, which will be applicable to the S-Pen to use it under water.
Similar to Apple s iCloud, Samsung could also introduce a service called Samsung Cloud along with 5GB of storage to allow users to backup their data on cloud. In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Note7 could cost 850 Euros in France (around Rs 63,000), which is almost Rs 10,000 more than the official launch price of Galaxy Note 5 in India.
