Google recently launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. While design, stock Android OS, and cameras are among the highlights, Google also announced unlimited Photos storage for lifetime in their original resolution. But, turns out Pixel 2’s unlimited photo storage isn’t really unlimited forever.

The free original-quality uploads are only offered until the end of 2020. Google Pixel 2‘s product page reads, “Free, unlimited original-quality storage for photos and videos taken with Pixel through the end of 2020, and free, unlimited high-quality storage for photos taken with Pixel afterwards.”

While Pixel users get unlimited storage for photos and videos in their original quality, non-Pixel users get limited storage. In original quality users only get 15GB, but for ‘high-quality’ photos and videos there’s unlimited storage. Google had introduced unlimited free storage with the Pixel first generation phones last year. However, now it’s putting a cap to that. After the 2020 deadline, Pixel owners will be treated the same ways as everyone else, where users will only be allowed to upload high-resolution images and videos and that will be unlimited.

The Pixel 2 XL is the larger version of Google’s flagship smartphone, the Google Pixel 2. The Pixel 2 is priced at Rs 61,000 for the 64GB variant, while the Pixel 2 XL costs Rs 73,000 for the 64GB storage option. The 128GB variants of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are priced at Rs 70,000 and Rs 82,000 respectively.
