Google is all set to announce new “Made by Google” hardware at its October 4 event but that isn’t stopping the leaks that usually accompany almost every high profile product unveiling these days. At the event Google is expected to announce a new duo of Pixel smartphones that will take over the Nexus range as we have known them all this while. Instead of just getting smartphones with stock Android, the Pixel smartphones will feature Google’s take on what smartphone UI should be about. Word on the street is that the smartphones will come in two sizes — Pixel and Pixel XL. While there have been multiple leaks including photos of the phones in the wild, it was only yesterday that we got a glimpse of a press render of the smaller Pixel smartphone. And today, we have the press render for the larger Pixel XL. The official render was leaked by well-known leakster Evan Blass on his Twitter handle. Looking at the image, we can see that it looks more or less the same as the Pixel albeit with a different wallpaper. This render more or less confirms what we had known for a while — Google is borrowing from Apple’s iPhone playbook by launching two similar looking smartphones with similar features but different sizes.
The images also show the updated UI of the Pixel launcher. The UI now features round icons features Google Assistant more prominently. The images also show that both the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones seem to feature on-screen buttons which could mean that a fingerprint scanner will be placed at the back below the rear camera.
