Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco launched the flagship Poco F1 with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 out-of-the-box in late August. Also, the company had promised a customized MIUI 10 update during the launch event in India.
Now after just few weeks of the launch, Poco F1 has got the MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.9.13 build. The firmware update for the Poco F1 is available through fastboot process, which requires an unlocked bootloader. To remind you, Poco F1 doesn’t exactly get the MIUI from Xiaomi. The sub-brand Poco has included tweaked version of MIUI for Poco F1, called MIUI for Poco.
The latest MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.9.13 for the Poco F1 is around 2.5GB in size. It can be directly downloaded from Xiaomi’s MIUI servers, and the changelog notes “OK Google” bug fix along with headphone audio output issue while playing PUBG. The update will also fix issue that was restricting some app icons being displayed in the notification panel.
Xiaomi is also rumored to be readying next version of Android OS for the Poco F1. The smartphone was recently spotted on Geekbench running the latest Android 9 Pie, so it is possible that users might get the final stable update by end of 2018.
The variant spotted running Android 9 Pie interestingly scores lower than the Android Oreo version. It could very well mean that a lot of optimizations are left to be done before the update is rolled out.
