Poco F1 starts receiving MIUI 9.6.24 update with improved camera stability

Xiaomi has added both the recovery ROM as well as a Fastboot ROM files on the MIUI forums for download.

A new software update is rolling out for the Poco F1, the first smartphone in the market by Poco, the sub-brand from Xiaomi. The new update brings the version number of the MIUI operating system to 9.6.24.0. According to an announcement by the company, MIUI 9.6.24.0 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a number of improvements. Interested users can head to the “Updater App” on their Poco F1 devices to update their devices to the latest version of MIUI. In addition to that, they can also head to “Settings”, tap on “About phone”, and then select “System updates” to check for the latest update.

For context, the new update is about 1.7GB in size so you need to ensure that the device is connected to a stable and fast internet connection. Talking about the changes in the software of the device, this update brings the Face unlock feature to Poco F1 users in Belgium along with optimizations related to the screen brightness in the Reading mode and sleep time when the device is lying on a flat surface. One of the most significant changes that this new update brings to the Poco F1 is improvements in the stability of the camera app.

Xiaomi has added both the recovery ROM as well as a Fastboot ROM files for download on the MIUI forums. The announcement also warned users to take a backup of their data before updating the device.

For the users who are currently running the developer version of MIUI, switching to the stable version would mean wiping all the data present on the device. This new update comes days after the company issued a statement to address the concerns about screen bleeding on the Poco F1.
