First the brand – ‘Pocophone’ or ‘Poco’ by Xiaomi
Pocophone or Poco will be a new sub-brand by Xiaomi to take on OnePlus’ fame. The company seems to be planning on the same line as Huawei and BBK, who sell different smartphones under different brand name in different segments.
About the name, the confusion is still there. Xiaomi officially tweeted about the India launch as Poco F1, and there are almost all other leaks as Pocophone F1. So until Xiaomi officially confirms or launches the smartphone, there will be no clarity it seems.
Poco F1/ PocoPhone F1 Specifications
If the leaks are right then upfront the Poco F1 will feature 5.99-inch notch display with Full-HD+ resolution and 19:9 ratio. Inside, it’ll pack the current high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with liquid-cooled technology and Adreno 630. The smartphone is said to come in two variants – 6GB RAM+64GB storage and 6GB RAM+128GB storage. It will also have a microSD expandable memory option.

For optics, the Pocophone F1 will boast of a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel and a 5-megapixel dual pixel auto focus lens. The front selfie camera will be a 20-megapixel shooter.
Other features include a 3.5 mm audio jack, rear mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 4000mAh battery with USB Type-C and Quick Charge 3.0.
Software – MIUI or Stock Android ?
So far, all the leaks have pointed out for Xiaomi’s own MIUI 9. It is most likely to be Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6. The pre-launch units in the leaks do not seem to have the final software yet.
Price and Color options
Ultimately, it all comes down to the price of the Pocophone F1. Going by the rumored pricing, Poco F1 or PocoPhone F1 could be the most affordable flagship smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset in any smartphone market. The 64GB model obtained by Android Authority was briefly put on sale by a European retailer for about 430 Euros (approximately Rs 34,000), but that’s in the same country where the OnePlus 6 sells for 530 Euros (approximately Rs 42,000). The 128GB was reportedly available at 468 Euros.
Having said that, the Poco F1 by Xiaomi in India is expected to be priced around Rs 25,000 to Rs 27,000 for the 6GB+64GB model. It is said to come in Blue and Graphite Black color options.
