Pokémon GO creator Niantic CEO's Twitter account hacked

Twitter account of John Hanke, the CEO of Niantic was hacked by OurMine. Niantic is the company which along with Nintendo created Pokémon GO. The group said it would continue the attack until officials from Pokémon GO contacted them.

Pok mon Go servers was hacked last month and within one month, hacking group OurMine broke into the Twitter account of John Hanke, who is the CEO of US-based software company Niantic, which created the popular GPS-based augmented reality game with Japanese company Nintendo. OurMine took over John Hanke’s account and posted a series of tweets, including one that identified Hanke’s password as “nopass”, reports Tech Crunch. The hackers posted the #OurMine hashtag within tweets on Hanke’s account. In July, the hacking team hit Pok mon Go’s login servers with a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack leaving some players frustrated as they were unable to log in to the game. The group said it would not stop the attack until representatives from Pok mon Go contacted them. Also Read - Twitter will not allow posts with photos, videos of private individuals without consent

“No one will be able to play this game till Pok mon Go contact us on our website to teach them how to protect it!” the group wrote in a post on its website.

A DDoS attack works by flooding a server with traffic so that it cannot be accessed by legitimate users. OurMine has also claimed credit for compromising Twitter chief executive officer (CEO) Jack Dorsey’s, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg‘s and Google CEO Sundar Pichai‘s social media accounts.

The group also hacked the Twitter account of Evan Williams, the microblogging site’s co-founder and former CEO.
