Apple’s forthcoming iPad Air 2 has been rumored to feature 2GB of RAM, which is double of what is found inside the current-generation iPad Air. Reiterating this rumor, Apple service provider GeekBar has leaked a photo of what it claims is a 2GB RAM module for the forthcoming tablet.

The memory boost should exhibit some improvements while running iOS 8. Furthermore, the iPad Air 2 is also expected to feature a split-screen feature, wherein you can run multiple apps simultaneously. Such a feature will definitely require more memory, and hence the reason for double the amount of RAM. Apple first introduced 1GB of RAM on the iPad 3, and has persisted with it on the iPad 4 and the iPad Air.

Given Geekbar’s not so reliable track record in the past, we will advise you to take this information with a grain of salt. Though, earlier reports have also suggested that the new iPad Air 2 will flaunt 2GB of RAM.

We will know more on October 16, when Apple is hosting an event, and is expected to unveil new iPads and Macs.
