Qualcomm announced their Snapdragon 700 series chipsets at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The series is meant to bridge the gap between their midrange and flagship chipsets. Besides that though, there wasn t much that was revealed about the series. Reports emerged later that the first line of chipsets in the 700 series will be called Snapdragon 710. The 700-series is designed to deliver a better balance between power and battery consumption. The Snapdragon 710 is built on Samsung s 10nm LPE process, which is known to perform 27 percent better than its 14nm predecessor. The chipset features a combination of eight Kryo3xx cores out of which two are performance cores and six are efficiency cores. The performance cores feature a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz, while the efficiency ones are toned down to 1.7GHz. The GPU is Adreno 615, which supports a maximum frequency of 750MHz. The Snapdragon 710 can also support displays with WQHD (3040 x 1440) resolution, which measures up to an aspect ratio of 19:9. In the photography department, the chipset can support a 32-megapixel camera thanks to the latest Spectra 250 ISP. It can also record 4k videos at 60fps.
For wireless connectivity, the chipset features dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, thanks to its SDR660 transceiver. For charging there is support for USB 3.1 Type C and USB 2.0 as well.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 730
The Snapdragon 730 features slightly better hardware. It is built on an 8nm LPP fabrication process, which compared to the 10nm LPE, consumes 10 percent less battery and features a smaller size, GizmoChina reports. The CPU configuration is the same, with two high performing cores combined with six efficiency cores. However, the Snapdragon 730 makes use of Kryo 4xx cores that are clocked a bit higher at 2.3GHz for the performing cores and the 1.8GHz for the efficiency cores respectively.
The Snapdragon 730 features the same Adreno 615 GPU as the Snapdragon 710. Based on that, the chipset also supports WQHD (3040 x 1440) resolution. Wireless connectivity features are also the same as it carries the same SD660 transceiver.

There are some sizable upgrades as well. The chipset gets a better Spectra 350 ISP for imaging and a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for machine learning, which is also found on some high-end chipsets from Apple and Huawei.
The Snapdragon 700 series chipsets are expected to reach the market by the end of the year. However, there is good chance that we might not see them in devices until the start of 2019.
