Qualcomm is reportedly working on latest iteration of its fast charging tech, called Quick Charge 5.0. This tech is reportedly set to offer 32 Watts fast charging. According to GizmoChina, the fresh piece of information was shared during Qualcomm’s recent 4G/5G Summit 2018 held in Hong Kong. As per report, Qualcomm is speculated to bring Quick Charge 5.0 with triple charge system with 32W fast charging, and 15W wireless charging on the next generation flagship chipset Snapdragon 855. As of now, Qualcomm hasn’t shared any details about the QC 5.0 or the upcoming chipset. Going by the rumors, the flagship Snapdragon 855 (Snapdragon 8150) is expected to be on 7nm FinFET process similar to Apple’s A12 and Huawei’s Kirin 980 SoC. Additionally, it is likely to get official by the end of this year. Also Read - MediaTek to supply 6nm chipsets for Chromebooks in 2021

Qualcomm s Quick Charge technology at present is in its fourth generation. The current chipset model like Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 660, Snapdragon 670, and Snapdragon 710 come equipped with Quick Charge 4+ fast charging, which is based on 18W rapid charging support.

QC 4+ offers Engine Fast Charging system, which segregates power in to two parts instead of one. Qualcomm claims that the QC 4+ for mobile prevents overheating by keeping the device cooler by three degrees. The new method is up to 15 percent faster, and 30 percent more efficient than its predecessor.

Recently at the summit, the US-based chipmaker introduced a follow up to the current mid-range Snapdragon 670, the Snapdragon 675 mobile platform. The new chipset is based on 11nm node fabrication, and is designed keeping camera, gaming and AI in mind. It also supports Quick Charge 4+ technology for fast battery charging.
