Railway Budget 2015: Mobile phone charging facilities in general class to be introduced

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is presenting the Railway Budget 2015 today. This is Narendra Modi-led BJP government’s first full year Rail Budget and Prabhu has relayed that there won’t be any hike in railways prices. In a significant move, Prabhu also confirmed that mobile phone charging facilities in general coaches will be introduced and Wi-Fi servces will be made available in Category B stations.

He also spoke about women safety, modernisation of trains as well as transparency in railways systems. Apart from mobile charging facilities and Wi-Fi services, Prabhu also said that SMS alert services will begin for passengers to inform them about arrival and departure of trains. Modern facilities for disabled citizens, senior citizens, patients through IRCTC will also be introduced.

He also announced e-catering services in 108 trains where you can order food through the IRCTC website. On-board entertainment facility could also be extended on Shatabdi trains.
