In the last one year we’ve seen a number of gaming smartphones emerge in the market. The trend however was kick started originally by none other than the Razer Phone. Launched in November last year, the smartphone came with some high-end and unique features that set itself apart from the rest of the flagship competition. And now it looks like the company is gearing up to launch a successor for it soon.

The news about the new Razer smartphone being in development was unveiled in the company’s most recent earnings report. Talking about the Razer Phone’s response and impact on the market, the company added, “Razer is now focusing its resources into the development of the second generation Razer Phone,” which is more than a clear indication of the company working on a new gaming smartphone.

Razer claims in the report that its gaming smartphone got more than a positive response in the industry, which of course serves as its motivation to follow-up with a successor for it. Along with that, the company also states that this time around, it plans on bringing some of its software services from PC over to the mobile market. However, the details of this are still unknown.

Specifications of the smartphone of course haven’t been mentioned, but we’re expecting them to be on the same lines of the Razer Phone, featuring a high-end Snapdragon chipset and a high refresh rate screen. Staying with the current trends, the smartphone might also feature smaller bezels this time around and much a sleeker design. However, nothing can be confirmed yet, be it the specifications or a timeline for a possible launch date. We’ll just have to wait and see what Razer has in store for the smartphone gaming community next.
