Razer launched its first gaming smartphone, Razer Phone, in November last year. When company scheduled an event earlier this year in May, there were speculations of it having a successor to the Razor Phone, but that didn’t happen. Now at the ongoing annual gaming trade show ChinaJoy 2018 in Shanghai, Razer Global vice-president Chen Xiaoping has reportedly revealed that a new Razer smartphone may launch by the end of 2018, and in China. In an interview at ChinaJoy 2018, Xiaoping is said to have spilled the launch information of expected Razer Phone 2, as reported by MyDrivers (via Playfuldroid). He further added that the new Razer Phone will use Qualcomm’s latest chip to further improve performance. As of now, Qualcomm’s flagship mobile processor is the Snapdragon 845, but going by the Q4 release of Razer Phone 2, it could feature the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 855 chipset. While Xiaoping says that the Razer Phone 2 will come to Chinese market first, it is quite interesting that the original Razer Phone hasn’t been launched in China yet. Since we are already in Q3, and Razer is expected to launch the successor smartphone in Q4, it is possible that gaming fans in China might just get the Razer Phone 2 directly.
As of now, there is no additional information available for the Razer Phone 2. The name is also speculated so far.
The original Razer Phone was launched for gaming enthusiast with high-end specifications and desktop gaming technology built-in. It sports 5.72-inch Sharp IGZO screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, accompanied with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. For photography, the Razer Phone sports a dual 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel camera on the back. Up front, it has a 8-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture
