Reliance Communications has announced a new scheme called ‘Free Facebook Fridays’ for its pre-paid GSM customers. In a bid to boost the usage of Internet, Reliance prepaid GSM users will now be able to access Facebook on Fridays for free, without depleting their data packs at all. What this means is if you are a prepaid Reliance GSM user, you can now use Facebook on Fridays without having to worry about data charges, account balance or deductions from your activated data pack. “With this offer of Free Facebook Fridays, we believe customers will get an opportunity to connect in an unhindered way; experience the benefits of unfettered net access, and drive data adoption and internet penetration in the country,” Gurdeep Singh, chief executive officer, Consumer Business, RCom said.
This isn’t the first time RCom has tied up with Facebook either. Last year it announced a scheme wherein its users could get free or discounted access to Facebook Messenger. With Free Facebook Fridays however, RCom hopes to garner more traction for its Rs 50 to Rs 100 data packs that offer unlimited Facebook for free, along with a quota for using Internet. RCom boasts the highest data usage per subscriber in the industry, at 752MB per subscriber per month, and has 29.7 million data customers, including 15.1 million 3G customers.
