While RCom has taken down this chart from its website, the website still promises free 10GB 4G data post upgrading to 4G . We believe that RCom 4G data plans will be at par with Reliance Jio s data packs, and will be inclusive of bundled data for Jio apps like JioPlay, Jio-on-Demand, JioBeats, JioMags, JioNews, and JioDrive among others.
RCom has already begun the procedure to upgrade its existing Reliance CDMA voice and datacard users to 4G network. To upgrade, CDMA users need to SMS 4G <space> 19 digit SIM number of the new 4G SIM to 1299. Users can alternatively also call on 1299 from their CDMA mobiles and key in their 19-digit 4G SIM number. The telecom operator owns liberalized license for 850MHz band spectrum in 20 circles, and also entered into spectrum trading and sharing agreements with RJio in various circles. It is worth pointing out that the 800MHz band is considered as more efficient band than the 2300MHz band as it has greater range, better wall-penetration with lesser possibilities of call drop or data loss issues. RCom will be leveraging its spectrum sharing pacts to migrate its 5 million customers to Jio s 4G network and phase out its CDMA network in couple of months.
