Realme is set to launch its next smartphone, the Realme 2 Pro, in India on September 27. The company recently sent ‘Block Your Dates’ for its upcoming product launch and has even started talking about some of the key features of its third smartphone. As the name implies, Realme 2 Pro will be a more powerful and expensive version of the existing Realme 2 smartphone. Ahead of its launch next week, Madhav Seth, CEO of Realme, has shared more information about the upcoming smartphone. In an interview with YouTuber Gaurav Chaudhary, Seth revealed how Realme 2 Pro will differ from Realme 1 and Realme 2 smartphones. For starters, the Realme 2 Pro will adopt waterdrop-style notch seen on smartphones such as the Oppo F9, Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro. In the video, Madhav adds that the Realme 2 Pro will have a taller display with a screen-to-body ratio of around 91 percent. It also embraces metal and glass construction and might drop the diamond black finish seen on previous models. The Realme 2 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
The major change coming to Realme 2 Pro is the processor under the hood of the device. The Realme 1 used a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset while the Realme 2 switched to Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. While these chipsets can be termed as good for the entry-level price segment, they do not offer performance craved by power users. With Realme 2 Pro, the company is addressing needs of those users by switching to Snapdragon 660 chipset. Other smartphones powered by Snapdragon 660 in the country are Xiaomi’s Mi A2, newly launched Vivo V11 Pro and Nokia 7 plus.
Madhav Seth also confirmed that Realme 2 Pro will feature dual rear camera setup and also seems to house a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will also come with face unlock system similar to one found on existing Realme smartphones. There is no word on battery capacity or storage option just yet.

Seth did confirm that the Realme 2 Pro will run custom version of Android 8.1 Oreo and also added that it will be updated to Android 9 Pie. He also revealed that the Realme 2 Pro will be priced in the Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 price segment. Realme 2 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 10,990 and with Realme 2 Pro, the company might offer a device in the Rs 15,000 price segment.
Realme has also confirmed that it has sold 10 lakh units of its smartphones in India. The company announced reaching that milestone via Twitter and it is commendable for a company that has launched just two smartphones. The company revealed recently that it sold 2 lakh units of Realme 2 during the first sale and sold another 3.7 lakh units during the second sale.
