Oppo’s sub-brand Realme which is on to becoming a separate brand, today announced that it will launch a new smartphone in India in the first half of December. The upcoming Realme smartphone will be first ever Helio P70 chipset-based device in the country and globally.
Speaking to BGR India at the IMC 2018, Realme‘s India CEO, Madhav Seth said that the smartphone will not be a successor to existing Realme 2 or 2 Pro. It’ll be a different device all together, which they plan to launch by first half of December 2018.
Just yesterday, MediaTek announced the latest edition in the P-series, Helio P70. The mid-range chipset is the successor to Helio P60 that was launched earlier this year at MWC. The octa-core Helio P70 is based on 12nm FinFET process and comes with a multi-core APU (AI processing unit) clocked at 525MHz to enable efficient AI processing. It also brings faster connectivity and better camera features, besides being power efficient at the same time.
In last Flipkart Big Billion Days and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sales, Realme created a milestone by selling 1 million Realme devices in 4 days. The Realme 2 has been company’s best smartphone till date. It sold 1 million devices in just 40 days of the launch.

To remind you, Realme and Mediatek has had association from its first Realme smartphone – Realme 1 – launched in May. The handset was based on Mediatek’s Helio P60. The company recently expanded its smartphone portfolio with the launch of two new models – Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1.
