The internet is a cobweb of confusing information. Even as Xiaomi fans are eagerly waiting for another record-breaking affordable smartphone launching tomorrow in India, there seems to be no singularity on the exact nomenclature for the device. Some believe it to be a rebranded version of the Redmi 5 Plus which is already available in China, while some indicate it to be an all-new Redmi Note 5.

Whether or not it turns out to be as popular as its predecessor in the budget category, the Redmi Note 5 is apparently not the Redmi 5 Plus, if the latest renders are to be believed. New renders of the upcoming smartphone have surfaced online and based on those, the Redmi Note 5 is unlikely to be anything that the Redmi 5 Plus is.

For starters, the renders show the Redmi Note 5 with a dual-camera setup at the back, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an 18:9 display with narrow, but visible bezels, MobileXpose reports. It is speculated that the Redmi Note 5 will come in a Pro variant which will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC while the base model will include the Snapdragon 626 SoC running under-the-hood.

In comparison, the Redmi 5 Plus, which was launched in China last month, sports a single camera at the back and runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. As we are just a day away from the actual launch, it is better to wait for the official word and take the current information with a grain of salt.

As for the specifications of the ‘all-new’ Redmi Note 5; the smartphone is likely to pack a 5.99-inch full HD+ display. With Snapdragon 636 running under the hood, the phone is expected to include up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage based on the variant.

With camera as one of its highlights, the Redmi Note 5 is likely to bundle a combination of 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors at the back for DSLR-like photos. Up front, it is expected to feature an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. On the software front, the Redmi Note 5 will run the older Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 running atop. The second highlight of the phone will be its massive 4,100mAh battery.

In addition to the Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi is also expected to launch its Mi TV tomorrow in India. The company posted a teaser for a mysterious new device which does not look like a smartphone. The teaser shows people looking at a slim device from different angles, an action synonymous with the way you watch television. Some reports have gone far to indicate that Xiaomi will launch as many as five new products on February 14.
