Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro vs Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 vs Honor 9N vs Samsung Galaxy J6: Price, specifications and features compared

The Redmi 6 Pro brings a notched display to Redmi-series. Here’s how it compares with the competition.

Another day, another smartphone launch! Well, Xiaomi today unveiled not one but three new smartphones in the Redmi 6-series. The first is a Redmi 6A, a successor to the Redmi 5A, the second is Redmi 6, which is a successor to Redmi 5. The third is a new smartphone called Redmi 6 Pro. It is the first smartphone in the Redmi-series to come with a notched display. Placed in the budget segment, it will compete with the likes of the Zenfone Max Pro M1, Honor 9N and the Galaxy J6. Here’s how all four smartphones fare based on their price specifications and feature.

Price in India and availability

The Redmi 6 Pro will be offered in two storage variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage model priced at Rs 10,999, whereas 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model priced at Rs 12,999. It will be available via Amazon India starting September 11 at 12:00PM. Buyers can also get the Redmi 6 Pro from Mi Home stores.

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 from Asus is also offered in two storage variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage priced at Rs 10,999, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage priced at Rs 12,999. The Honor 9N is also offered in 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants, priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 13,999, respectively Both smartphones are available to purchase from Flipkart.

The Galaxy J6 was launched for Rs 14,990, but after Samsung recently gave a couple of price cuts, it is now available for Rs 12,990 for 3GB RAM with 32GB storage model, whereas the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model is priced at Rs 14,990. The smartphone can be purchased from Flipkart and from offline retail stores.

Display

As mentioned above, the Redmi 6 Pro is the first smartphone in the Redmi-series to come with a notched display. It features a 5.85-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Zenfone Max Pro M1, on the other hand, comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The 9N from Honor comes with a 5.84-inch full HD+ IPS panel and it also comes with a notch, giving an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Galaxy J6, on the other hand, comes with a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

Specifications

Under the hood, the Redmi 6 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with an octa-core CPU. The chipset is known to offer balanced performance and efficiency. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with an octa-core CPU, the Honor 9N is powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC with an octa-core CPU, whereas the Samsung Galaxy J6 is powered Exynos 7870 SoC. All four smartphones come with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants. A microSD card slot for further expansion is also present.

Cameras

The Honor 9N, Redmi 6 Pro and the Zenfone Max Pro M1 come with dual cameras at the back, whereas the Galaxy J6 comes with a single camera. Redmi 6 Pro includes a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensor, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with a 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensor, whereas the Honor 9N comes with a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensor. The Galaxy J6 comes with a 13-megapixel sensor at the back.

Up front, Redmi 6 Pro, Galaxy J6 and Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with an 8-megapixel sensor, whereas the Honor 9N comes with a 16-megapixel sensor. The front cameras on all three smartphones support face unlock feature.

Battery, connectivity and OS

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with the latest battery rated at 5,000mAh, followed by the Redmi 6 Pro, which comes with a 4,000mAh one. The Honor 9N and Galaxy J6 both come with 3,000mAh batteries.

On the connectivity front, all smartphones come with dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G VoLTE connectivity. In the software department, the Redmi 6 Pro comes with Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 interface, and will soon be updated to Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 interface. The Galaxy J6 comes with Android 8.0 Oreo with Experience UI on top. Lastly, the Honor 9 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 skin on top, and the Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
