Samsung Galaxy Note 7R or Samsung Galaxy Note 7 FE, call it what you want but the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is not far off. Though there is yet no official word from Samsung regarding the launch, the device has been in news quite often and everything from the design to specifications have leaked. Previously, we also saw the phone listed on a Chinese retail website and now, there is another listing on a Korean e-commerce portal. Looking at the Korean pricing, those expecting to get the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 at a cheaper price will be disappointed. As per the listing on Danawa, the phone will be priced at 699,600 won (a little over Rs 40,000). As per the listing, the phone will be called Samsung Galaxy Note 7 FE and not Samsung Galaxy Note 7R. Additionally the listing shows the expected arrival date at the end of June, which means Samsung might launch the device anytime post the second week this month. However, the Korean listing slightly differs from the Chinese listing in terms of specifications. While the Chinese version listed two battery variants of the smartphone, the Korean listing shows just one. However, it could also boil down to regional variations post launch. The images on Danawa show a design very similar to the original Samsung Galaxy Note 7. However, the listing does not show the back of the device where Samsung is said to design a visible ‘R’ to help users understand the device is a refurbished one. If the name is indeed ‘FE’ as pointed out in the latest listing, then the back might have ‘FE’ instead of ‘R’, though the naming and the back lettering will be final only post an official Samsung announcement. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 FE specifications
As per the listing, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 FE will come with a 5.7-inch QHD display with 515 ppi. The processor is not mentioned but it is most likely to be Exynos 8890 64-bit octa-core processor. The phone listed comes with 64GB internal storage with 4GB RAM with an additional slot for expansion. The rear camera is a 12-megapixel shooter and the front camera is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. There’s just one 3,200mAh battery version listed whereas the Chinese listing also provided a 2,300mAh battery version.
Clearly, looking at the pricing, the phone is a far cry from the “mid-range” option it was expected to be. Samsung has clearly retained the expensive price tag and the phone will not really be easy on the pocket. However, post the entire disaster with Galaxy Note 7, it is unclear if users will purchase the device at a high price point. While Samsung has claimed that the device will be refurbished and the battery power reduced to protect the phone, there are still large questions over security. The device is for now only restricted to certain Asian markets and is not likely to launch in India or other Western markets.
