Reliance Industries held its 41st AGM today in Mumbai where the company chairman Mukesh Ambani addressed the media and shareholders. He made a number of announcements, revealing that Reliance Jio now has 215 million users, and JioPhone has 25 million users. Ambani also announced the launch of JioGigaFiber FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) broadband service along with JioGigaRouter and JioGigaTV set-top-box.
Jio is currently running beta trials in different cities across India. Registrations for the same will begin starting August 15 and you can register your interest both via MyJio app and on Jio.com. Besides bringing high-speed internet access with speeds of up to 1Gbps to homes and small businesses, JioGigaFiber also enables smart home automation capabilities.

The company will be selling smart home accessories such as audio dongle to let you stream music from your smartphone to a smartTV or connected speakers, a video dongle to make video calls to your loved ones, a smart speaker like Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and more. Users will also be able to buy Wi-Fi range extenders to have good internet connectivity through the house.
For security, Jio will also be selling indoor and outdoor cameras, that will not only record the feed, but also help in remotely keeping an eye at your home and office when away. What’s more, there is also a smart plug accessory that can turn your non-smart product into a smart product. Meaning, you can connect your fan or lights to the smart plug, and control it using your phone.
Other accessories also include smoke sensor, gas leak sensor, water leak sensor, door sensor, and more. Jio hasn’t revealed any pricing details of the smart home accessories, but considering the fact that the company aims to disrupt the home automation and broadband space next, we can expect these products to be affordable to the common man.
