The data war in the telecom sector has been all about offering unlimited calls, more high-speed data and value-added services, all at aggressive prices. And just when you thought what more can the telcos do to make things better, Bharti Airtel has come up with another lucrative prepaid plan. Priced at Rs 219, the plan comes with a validity of 28 days.
As a part of the plan, you get unlimited local and national calls, along with unlimited roaming. You also get 100 free local and national SMS per day, and 1.4GB daily 3G / 4G data. Now, to make things interesting, Airtel is also offering unlimited ‘Hello Tune’ with the pack. The plan was first spotted by MobiGyaan.
Essentially, you get to choose a song from the vast music library, and set it as a caller tune. Now, whenever users call you, they will hear the song you have chosen, rather than the boring tring-tring. For those unaware, Hello Tunes were highly popular and in a great demand around 2004-2008, during the feature phone era. However, the craze slowly died, and now it seems like Airtel wants more customers to start using the Hello Tunes again.

Usually, Hello Tunes have a subscription charge of Rs 36 per month, and the song that you select is priced at Rs 15 for 90 days. Now, when Airtel says unlimited hello tune, it has not clarified you will still be charged Rs 15 per song selection for 90 days. And even if it does, it still seems good, as you will be saving Rs 36 per month towards the subscription charges.
Airtel also recently announced its plans of launching the Apple Watch Series 3 LTE that bring cellular connectivity to your Apple Watch. So, even if you keep your iPhone at home, and are travelling, you will still be able to receive incoming calls on the Apple Watch from anywhere. Pre-orders for the same kick-off on May 4, and the smartwatch goes on sale starting May 11.
