Reliance Jio‘s Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer has reportedly got a nod from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI. The Rs 309 plan offering 1GB data for 84 days was introduced by the company after TRAI forced it to withdraw the Summer Surprise offer. TRAI has examined Dhan Dhana Dhan offer and found it to be distinct from previous offers by the company, Financial Express reports. The report quoting a source from the company says the offer is a ‘clear tariff plan which offers subscribers 1 GB data a day for 84 days on a recharge of Rs 309’. The offer also has another tariff plan giving 2GB data for 84 days on Rs 509 recharge.
The report also mentions that the Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is under compliance with norms and TRAI is likely to ‘not interfere with them so long they do not violate any regulatory norm.’ The regulatory authority found Jio Summer Surprise offer was not in accordance with the norms and subsequently advised the telco to withdraw the deal on April 6.
Under the Summer Surprise scheme, Jio users were required to subscribe Rs 99 Jio Prime plan and then do a recharge for Rs 303 or higher to get another three months of free service on the network. This first paid deal by the telecom operator is said to be ‘neither a tariff plan nor a promotional offer. It was a mix of two, which is not allowed, and hence TRAI stopped it.
