ACT Fibernet, one of the leading broadband internet service providers in India, has tied up with e-commerce giant Flipkart for a promotional deal on smart TV purchases. Buyers of all smart TVs on Flipkart from September 3 to November 30 are eligible for the promotional offer from ACT Fibernet, provided they are based in the 15 cities in India where ACT operates. On purchase of any smart TV from Flipkart during the offer period, customers will also have the option to take a six-month subscription for any of ACT Fibernet’s eligible plans. On taking the six-month subscription, customers will receive an additional two months on the same plan free of charge, along with an additional 1500GB of data added to the FUP limits on the plans, as well as a free Wi-Fi router for the connection. The plan is also applicable for existing ACT Fibernet subscribers, but these users won’t get the free router. It’s particularly useful since smart TV users will also be looking at high-speed internet plans to make the most of their new purchase. The offer will be subject to verification of the purchase by ACT Fibernet, and has to be redeemed on or before December 31, 2018. ACT Fibernet will assure installation and activation of the connection within 10 working days. Various plans starting at Rs 999 onwards are valid for the offer, across all of the company’s cities served. ACT Fibernet currently serves a total of 15 cities in India, with a strong presence in South India. Big cities served by the company are Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai, and plan benefits vary according to the location.
The move comes soon before the mass roll-out of Jio Gigafiber, which is expected to begin operations and services before the end of the year across the country. Jio has been aggressive in its mobile offerings, and is expected to offer similarly strong pricing and offers on its direct-to-home broadband services as well. The impending launch will have incumbent players such as ACT Fibernet and Airtel worried, as both step-up their offers and discounts to woo more customers.
