To better compete with Reliance Jio s aggressive plans, incumbent telecom operators have been slashing their rates, and also introduced new plans with higher data benefits. The likes of Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular, now offer prepaid plans with unlimited voice calls and 3G / 4G data. However, there is an FUP limit to those plans. BSNL, on the other hand, is offering a postpaid plan with unrestricted data and voice calls. According to a report on TelecomTalk, BSNL has introduced a new postpaid plan priced at Rs 1,595 for its subscribers. The plan is available to all BSNL postpaid customers across India. And subscribers who want to switch from prepaid to postpaid, will have to pay Rs 500 as a security deposit. Talking about the benefits, the Rs 1,595 plan offers unlimited on-net and off-net calls, without any restrictions, these include voice calls to landline numbers as well. And while other operators offer unlimited local and national SMS, BSNL plan offers 250 SMS per billing cycle.
Additionally, subscribers also get unlimited data, without any restrictions. It is worth pointing out that BSNL is the only company that is offering unlimited data. However, while other operators offer high-speed 3G / 4G data, BSNL is restricted to 2G / 3G network, which can be a bummer in case you are in a poor coverage area.
BSNL is also working on rolling out 4G service, which was set to commence sometime in January 2018, but there is no word on the progress. The state-run telco had also introduced Loot Lo offer in November 2017, offering discounts to users who opt for quarterly, half-yearly or year plans.
