State-owned telecom operator, BSNL, has introduced a new prepaid plan to take on Reliance Jio. Priced at Rs 349, the plan comes with a validity of 54 days, and offers unlimited voice calls to its subscribers. The plan is available via STV (special tariff voucher), includes 100 free SMS daily and is available pan India.
In terms of data benefits, the plan offers 1GB daily, which means you can download up to 54GB data through the plan’s validity, TelecomTalk reports. Sadly, while other operators are offering high-speed 4G connectivity, BSNL is still stuck on 3G network, but it is soon expected to roll-out 4G services too.
BSNL’s plan competes with Reliance Jio’s Rs 349 plan which offers more benefits. The plan comes with a validity of 70 days, offers daily data of 1.5GB, meaning you can download up to 105GB data. The plan also offers unlimited local and national voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and a complimentary subscription to Jio suite of apps, which includes JioTV, JioMovies and JioMusic among other apps.

Recently, BSNL also unveiled two other plans priced at Rs 99 and Rs 319 with unlimited voice calls and unlimited roaming. The Rs 99 plan comes with 26 days validity, whereas the Rs 319 plan offers 90 days validity. The plan also includes free caller tune service, but it does not come with any free data. Clearly, these plans are aimed at those who make an extensive amount of voice calls, and if you need data, you’ll have to opt for some other plan.
