Idea Cellular has launched a new prepaid plan priced at Rs 998 to take on Reliance Jio’s Rs 799 plan. The plan comes with 5GB 4G/2G daily data, along with unlimited local and national calls, and 100 free SMS per day. There is also an Idea Magic offer that users can avail, where prepaid subscribers can get up to Rs 3,300 cashback on recharges from the Idea website or app. The new plan from Idea Cellular comes at a time when the telco is testing 4G VoLTE in across different circles.

As of now, the pack is only available in Odisha circle. A pack with similar benefits is also available in Karnataka circle, but comes with 28 days validity and without the Idea Magic cashback offer. Also, there is one small caveat when we talk about unlimited voice calls. The pack has a limit of calling 100 unique numbers per week. Also, you get 250 free minutes per day, and 1,000 minutes per week, beyond which you will be charged 1 paisa per second for local and STD calls.

Jio, on the other hand, has a plan priced at Rs 799 which offers unlimited local and national outgoing calls, unlimited roaming and 100 free SMS per day. The plan also offers 5GB daily data, and after the limit is hit, the speed is throttled down to 64Kbps. With a validity of 28 days, the plan also comes with complimentary access to the Jio suite of apps such as Jio Movies, Jio Music, Jio Mags, Jio LiveTV and more.

Vodafone, also has a similar pack priced at Rs 799 and it comes with 28 days validity. The plan offers unlimited local and national calls, unlimited roaming within India and 4.5GB 3G/4G data.
