Reliance Communications with its latest 4G data offering will be the newest in line to join in competing against Jio. According to the latest report, RCom is offering 70GB of 4G data with a validity of 70 days for a price of Rs 148. This new offer is under RCom s super value tariff plan and is available for its circles in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. RCom is also said to launch new plans FRC 54 and FRC 61 which are essentially offers for users on their first recharge. Under the new data plan, RCom, as reported by the Economic Times, offers 70GB data for 70 days with a daily cap of 1GB every day. In addition to the 4G data, this pack also offers Rs 50 talktime and voice calls will be charged at Rs 25 paise per minute to any network. It isn t known whether the voice calls will be for local and STD as well. Coming to the other two recharge plans, the FRC 54 pack offers 1GB of 4G data daily for 28 days. Under this pack, users will be charged 10 paise per minute for voice calls to Reliance network and 25 paise per minute to other networks. This offer is open to local and STD voice calls.
The FRC 61 plan also offers the same 4G data of 1GB per day for a period of 28 days. How it differs from the earlier plan is in the voice calls offering. Under the FRC 61 plan, users will be charged 1 paise per 6 seconds for calls made to Reliance subscribers and 1 paise per 2 seconds for calls made to other networks. This offer also extends to both local and STD calls.
RCom s latest data offer comes shortly after Reliance Jio started its paid services last month and officially rolled out its prepaid and postpaid plans. Reliance Jio s tariffs start at Rs 19 and go up to Rs 9,999 offering 4G data without any daily cap on data usage. Jio has been igniting competition amongst telcos with the most recent ones being Vodafone offering 9GB of free data to postpaid users, and even BSNL offering 270GB of 3G data at Rs 333. RCom is due to merge with Aircel where both parties will hold equal share. RCom has already received an approval from the Competition Commission of India for the proposed merger. The deal is expected to finalize by mid of this year. RCom s merger with Aircel could possibly bring up some new competition for Jio and existing telcos as well.
