We recently reported about Reliance Jio getting a nod for from TRAI for providing voice calling facility under the unified service license. And now the Mukesh Ambani promoted Reliance Jio Infocomm has officially announced to have been given Unified License by the Department of Telecommunication for all of its 22 service areas across India. This also makes it the first operator to get pan-India Unified Licenses. So far, Idea and MTS have also been allotted ULs for 7 and 8 of their circles respectively. The company had paid one-time requisite entry fee to get the licenses, after which it signed the Unified License Agreement with Government of India, Ministry of Communication & IT, and DoT (Access Service Division) on October 21.
Now the company s operations through ISP license and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum will come under the Unified License.
