Reliance Jio has become India’s first 4G mobile network operator to provide VoLTE based international roaming services in the country. The telecom operator, in partership with KDDI Japan, will be offering international roaming between India and Japan.
“Reliance Jio is focused on delivering the best data and voice experience to all of India and those who visit India. We welcome KDDI customers to Jio as the first international VoLTE and HD roaming users in India,” said Mark Yarkosky, Reliance Jio.
With the KDDI partnership, Jio will be offering HD voice and LTE high speed data to international travelers. Japan-based KDDI Corporation is the first international mobile service provider to avail Jio’s VoLTE calling and LTE data international roaming service, Jio said in a press statement on Tuesday.
Reliance Jio emerged as the fastest 4G operator with its average peak download speed in October at 22.3Mbps in TRAI‘s report. Jio’s national average of 4G download speed was more than double compared to its rival Bharti Airtel, which recorded a download speed of 9.5 Mbps in October.
