Last month, a link on Reliance Jio’s website hinted at its preview offer for HP India customers. In essence these HP users could get access to Reliance Jio’s preview program by buying a JioFi hotspot device. This preview program seems to have now gone live, and Reliance Jio is also offering an improved JioFi2 device worth Rs 2,899. On purchase of the JioFi2, users will be entitled to Jio’s 90-day unlimited preview offer. Like the preview offer applicable on LYF and certain Samsung devices, HP users too will be entitled to benefits like unlimited data, calls and SMS for a period of 90 days. While these JioFi2 devices work as hotspot for data connection, one can also make HD voice and video calls using the Jio Join app. Smartphones users connected to a JioFi2 will also be entitled to free access to Jio’s premium apps for three months.
There is however a small catch, a HP user is only entitled to buy a JioFi2 device if they have an invite mail, TelecomTalk reports. Registered HP users will get an email about the offer from the company, and this mail also includes a unique referral code. One needs to take this code to the nearest Reliance DX Mini or Reliance Digital store and use it to buy a JioFi2 for Rs 2,899.
At the store, a user will have to fill a KYC form, submit an identity and address proof, and then use the unique code to activate a Jio prepaid or postpaid SIM card and the JioFi plan. As per the report, post the submission the JioFi2 will be activated within the next seven days.
The report adds that in anticipation of the rumored launch, Reliance Jio has imported a large quantity of JioFi2 devices that have been distributed to the stores. The device allows one to connect up to 32 devices simultaneously, and boasts a battery life of around six hours. The JioFi2 will be available in red, blue and black colors.
If recent reports are to be believed, Reliance Jio could launch its much-awaited services as early as this month on August 15. In its preview phase, Jio has amassed a user base of over 1.5 million, and is steadily extending its preview program to other brands. After the likes of Samsung and HP, Jio is believed to be in talks with Apple.
