In less than a week, Reliance Jio has partnered with Micromax and its sub-brand YU, LG, Samsung, Asus, TCL and Alcatel to offer free Jio SIM cards with its 90-days ‘Preview Offer’ to users having 4G-enabled smartphones from these brands. Now, three more smartphone brands are added to the growing list – Karbonn, Lava and Gionee. As a part of Jio Preview offer, users get complimentary access to Jio suite of apps such as JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioXpressNews, JioSecurity, JioDrive, JioMags and JioMoney among others. Users also get free unlimited HD voice calling and unlimited internet downloads, for 90 days from the date of activation.
Karbonn smartphones such as Aura Power, Sparkle V, Quattro L50, K9 Smart and others that support 4G LTE are compatible with Reliance Jio Preview Offer. Also, Gionee smartphones such as F103 Pro, S6 Pro, Elife S6, Marathon M5 Lite, Marathon M5 Plus and others, along with Lava smartphones such as X38, A68, X82, X64, X81 among others are also a part of this offer. To avail the offer, users need to head over to Google Play Store and download the MyJio app. Next, one needs to open the app and click on ‘Get Jio SIM’ option and enter details such as name, alternate mobile number and location to verify the availability of the offer.
After filling all the required details, one needs to generate a unique code using the app. Once the code is generated, walk-in to any Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Xpress Mini store with one passport size photo, identification and address proof. This should be enough to get the free SIM card. Once the documents are accepted, you’ll receive an SMS on your alternate number. In the last step, you’ll have to insert the Reliance Jio SIM card in your smartphone and dial 1977 to activate it. The same procedure also applies to 4G-enabled smartphone users of brands such as Samsung, LG, Asus, Micromax, YU, TCL and Alcatel. ALSO READ: No, Reliance Jio is not launching a Rs 199 smartphone

With the addition of these three brands Reliance Jio has, in a way, opened its network to almost the entire ecosystem of major handset vendors. It remains to be seen how COAI and its members like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea react to this announcement. COAI had earlier alleged that Reliance Jio has done a commercial launch in the garb of network testing and it is hurting incumbent carriers as well as the government that isn’t getting its share of revenue.
