Reliance Jio hasn’t commercially launched its 4G services yet, but its ‘Preview Offer’ is already making waves. The craze for unlimited data, voice calls and complimentary access to premium content services has reached a level where people are standing in long queues outside Reliance Digital and Reliance Digital Xpress Mini stores to get a free SIM card. The Preview Offer which started with LYF-branded smartphones, slowly expanded to Samsung and LG smartphones, and is now available on most smartphone brands. Sony, Videocon and Sansui are the latest brands to join the increasing list of supported manufacturers.
If you own a 4G-enabled smartphone from Sansui, Videocon or Sony, you can avail the benefits of Jio Preview offer. All you need to do is download the MyJio app from the Play Store and open it. You will get an option called ‘Get Jio SIM’ tap on that an fill in your details — such as Name, Surname and alternate contact number. After entering these details, you will have to choose the State and City from the drop down menu, after which a barcode will be generated. Next, you need to carry this barcode along with your documents, one passport size photo, one identity and address proof.
Upon submission of documents, you will be given a Reliance Jio SIM card. Once the documents are accepted, you will receive a text message on your alternate contact number. Insert the Jio SIM card in your smartphone and dial 1977 to activate it. After the connection is activated, you can enjoy unlimited internet access and downloads, make unlimited voice calls using the JioJoin app and also access a range of premium content services.
The Jio suite of apps include JioPlay, a live TV streaming service with more than 300 channels in over 10 regional languages, JioBeats, an online radio and music streaming service, and JioOnDemand to watch on-demand movies. Other apps also include JioMoney, a digital wallet that allows you to make payments, recharge mobile or DTH, pay utility bills and much more. There is also JioDrive app where you get 5GB of cloud storage space to backup your photos, videos, text messages and other data. What’s more, you can access your data from other devices such as iPad, tablet and PC.
The Jio Preview offer is also applicable on 4G smartphones from other brands, which includes the likes of LG, Panasonic, Asus, Micromax, YU, Alcatel, TCL, Lava, Gionee, Karbonn and Xolo. Besides the SIM card, Reliance Jio has also launched a portable Wi-Fi hotspot device called JioFi 2. Priced at Rs 2,899, the device also comes with Jio Preview offer for 90 days, along with features such as a 2,300mAh battery, and microSD card slot with support up to 32GB. Also, while other portable hotspot devices let you connect up to 10 devices, the JioFi 2 lets you connect up to 31 devices at the same time.
