RJio won 32 blocks of airwave frequencies amounting to over 6MHz of spectrum in the northeastern states for Rs 44.8 crore. Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Aircel also have spectrum in the 1,800MHz band in the northeast service area.

RJio has requested DoT to swap the scattered frequencies assigned to the company with unsold spectrum in the region.

The company cited a DoT point in the notice inviting applications for the spectrum auction, which said companies would be provided contiguous blocks of airwaves, subject to availability.

DoT auctioned 125 blocks of spectrum in the 1,800MHz band in the northeast, out of which 101 blocks were won by all four bidders and 24 were unsold.
