Reliance Jio is yet to commercially launch its 4G LTE services in India but the company has already been making news for its free ‘Preview’ service offering. While at the moment, the preview offer is valid only on Reliance Digital’s LYF smartphones, a new report suggests that the offer could be extended to select Samsung smartphones as well. The news comes on the same day as reports emerged about the possibility of Jio launching its services on August 15.
Under the preview offer, Reliance Jio will be offering its 4G services that comprises voice and video calling, unlimited messaging, data and bundled Jio apps such as JioMoney and JioOnDemand along with select Samsung smartphones for three months, TechPP reports.
The smartphones that will be eligible for the Reliance Jio’s preview offer are the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 5 Duos, Galaxy A5 (2015) and A5 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2015) and A7 (2016), Galaxy A8, Galaxy Note edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Edge Plus, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
While Samsung or Reliance Jio hasn’t officially announced the plan, the website explains how users can avail the offer when it is available. To do so, users need to download the MyJio app on their Samsung smartphone, and tap on Get Jio SIM. Users will get get a coupon that will have a barcode and coupon code with a limited time validity. After that, users need to submit their ID proof at their nearest Reliance Digital stores. After you have got the SIM, you can activate by calling 1977 using the Jio SIM. Once the SIM is activated, users can avail the Jio Preview offer.
As mentioned earlier, Reliance Jio’s 4G LTE services are available to select users right now. The telecom operator hasn’t revealed when it will be making its 4G SIM available for non-LYF users as yet. But it seems Reliance is already making a big progress in this regard and has joined hands with Samsung, which is also the leading smartphone vendor in India right now. Another interesting thing to note is that Reliance Jio is offering its 4G across Samsung smartphones, including mid-range ones like the Galaxy A7 2016 and flagship ones like Galaxy S7 edge.
Having said that, Jio has provided its testing SIM cards to most smartphone brands in India and we won’t be surprised if it extends the same offer with other smartphone brands as well. The best part is that this offer could be valid for existing users as well, which means you won’t have to necessarily buy a new smartphone to avail it. This could be a good launch day marketing ploy to ensure people sign up for its services. Anyway, Jio is already offering unlimited service usage to anyone who buys a LYF smartphone.
