Reliance Jio disrupted the Indian telecom market with ultra-affordable prepaid plans offering unlimited voice calls and high-speed 4G data. Now, the telecom operator is all set to disrupt the postpaid segment too. Jio has announced a new Zero Touch postpaid plan priced at Rs 199 which will be available starting May 15. Besides the usual voice and data benefits, the plan will offer cheaper ISD calling and international roaming too. To begin with the plan is priced at Rs 199 per billing cycle and offers 25GB high-speed 4G data, local and national voice calling, and unlimited SMS (100 per day). The plan also includes complimentary access to Jio suite of apps such as JioMusic, JioMovies, JioTV and more. It also includes pre-activated ISD calling and one-click international roaming without any security deposit. International calling to USA and Canada is priced at 50 paise per minute, calls to Bangladesh, China, France, Italy, New Zealand, UK and Singapore will be priced at Rs 2 per minute. And calls to other countries such as Germany, Australia, UAE and others will be priced between Rs 3 and Rs 6 per minute.

International roaming is where things get interesting. In countries like USA, UK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Japan, and France among others, users will be charged Rs 2 per minute for outgoing calls, Rs 2 per MB for data usage and Rs 2 per SMS. In countries such as Egypt, Kenya, Kuwait, Poland, Brazi, China and Australia among others, users will be charged Rs 10 per minute for outgoing calls, Rs 10 per MB for data usage and Rs 10 per SMS. These charges are for without international roaming pack.
There are also three subscription-based plans with unlimited calls, SMS and data. The first plan is priced at Rs 575 with one-day validity, and bundles 250MB data. Once the limit is hit, speed is throttled to 64Kbps. The second plan is priced at Rs 2,875 and comes with same benefits, but with a validity of 7 days. The third plan is priced at Rs 5,751 where users get 5GB high-speed data and 30 days validity.
In comparison, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel has a plan priced at Rs 399 which offers 20GB data per month. Idea Cellular has a slightly cheaper plan priced at Rs 389 and it also offers 20GB data. All these plans offer unlimited local and national calls and unlimited SMS. However, roaming charges are quite high compared to Jio s offering.
