Just yesterday, Reliance Jio announced JioGigaFiber, the company s FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) broadband service. The company also announced GigaRouter and GigaTV set-top-box, all of which will be available to purchase from August 15. Now, while Reliance Jio did not mention anything about the cost or the data that it offers, Bharti Airtel seems to have been facing the heat even before the launch. To tackle Reliance JioGigaFiber, Bharti Airtel has removed the FUP limit from its broadband plans with immediate effect. As of now, the limit is only removed in Hyderabad city, and users now get virtually unlimited data, TelecomTalk reports. In other cities, broadband plans still have FUP limits, and there is no word on when Airtel plans to bring those benefits outside Hyderabad city. Moreover, Airtel has the broadband plans in Hyderabad that start at Rs 349 per month, and go all the way up to Rs 1,299. The Rs 349 plan offers 8Mbps speed with unlimited downloads, the Rs 499 plan offers 16Mbps speed, and the Rs 699 plan offers 40Mbps speed. The last plan which is priced at Rs 1,299 offers 100Mbps download speed. As mentioned, these plans don t come with FUP limit anymore, and users can download unlimited data.
Bharti Airtel also offers unlimited local and STD calls to broadband users during the validity period. Also the Rs 699 and Rs 1,299 plans offer complimentary Amazon Prime subscription for one year. Lastly, these broadband plans also came with Data Rollover option, but with the FUP now removed, it is now redundant.
