Reliance Jio commenced registration for its JioGigaFiber service of August 15 without revealing details about the plans. The Mukesh Ambani-owned company said it will begin commercial availability of the service based on areas where the service gets most interest or registration and gradually expand its reach throughout the country.
Reliance Jio recently said that the response has been good for the service despite battle for last mile connectivity with local cable operators. Now, more details about Reliance Jio’s plans for its fiber broadband service including the Preview Offer have appeared on the internet. With JioGigaFiber service, Reliance Jio is said to launch Preview Offer similar to one offered to early adopters of Jio’s mobile service.
Reliance JioGigaFiber Preview Offer: All you need to know
Reliance JioGigaFiber is being designed as a greenfield fiber-to-the-home broadband service. While traditional fiber broadband service use fiber only till the main building and carry data further using copper cables, Jio’s FTTH service will connect to home directly using fiber network. This should lead to increased data throughput speeds even at remotest of locations.
Like its mobile data service, Reliance Jio is said to debut the JioGigaFiber service with a preview offer. The offer is said to give early adopters data connection with download and upload speeds up to 100Mbps. The preview offer will give users access to 100GB of broadband data every month. Once you run out of the data, Reliance JioGigaFiber users will have an option to add 40GB extra data using top-up option.
The preview offer will provide this data benefit for free for the first three months and even the data top-up will be free. According to MySmartPrice, it is not clear how many free top-ups early adopters will be able to avail every month. Reliance Jio has already been running some form of preview with select users in the country.
A recent report had hinted at Reliance JioGigaFiber users getting option to use up to 1.1TB of data each month. If Jio users start with 100GB of data then it could mean that each user will get option to avail 40GB data top-up multiple times to reach that threshold value. There is no clarity on FUP limit and how the company plans to limit data speed after users reach that 100GB data cap.
Reliance JioGigaFiber: Initial Price
