Reliance JioPhone, the best-selling feature phone, recently gained support for WhatsApp and now its turn of YouTube. The company had announced at the 41st Annual General Meeting in July that the app will come to its 4G feature phone on August 15. However, the app was rolled out in a phased manner and only a handful of users got the application.

Now, YouTube is available for download directly from JioStore and anyone with a JioPhone can download the application. The app works similar to the application on other platforms and allows users to watch YouTube videos on the go. It also includes option to share the video with your friends via social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+. In order to download the YouTube app on your JioPhone, go to the JioStore from the main interface and then look for YouTube app from the listing.

Once you see YouTube app listing, click on the install option to begin downloading the application. JioPhone users will only be able to access YouTube videos on their JioPhone if they have latest software running on their device. It is recommended that you look for latest software update on your JioPhone by heading to Settings >> Device >> Software Update.

Reliance JioPhone, since its launch last year, has had a significant impact in India’s feature phone market. Dubbed as smart feature phone, the Reliance JioPhone has been the best-selling feature phone in the country for several quarters now and has even earned Reliance Jio reputation of being the leader in the feature phone market. Reliance JioPhone’s success can be owed to its pricing and cashback offer but the device has also appealed to a lot of consumers for its software.

The JioPhone runs KaiOS, a smart operating system made for feature phones by an American startup. The operating system allows for smart functionality and supports applications like Google Assistant. The first major app to arrive on JioPhone was Facebook and it was followed by introduction of WhatsApp, YouTube and Google Maps.

In terms of experience, YouTube app for Reliance JioPhone comes with tabs like Home and Trending and allows you to sign with your Google account. The video plays in portrait mode by default but the smaller screen on the JioPhone does not translate into a great experience. The YouTube app on the JioPhone can be described a web version turned into app and lacks more mainstream features like Dark mode or ability to view videos in Incognito mode.
