To check whether or not your existing feature phone or smartphone is eligible for exchange, you can head over to jio.com. On the homepage, click on the JioPhone banner with exchange offer, and scroll down till you see the list of eligible devices for exchange. Just select the brand followed by the model number, and if it is eligible, you will be prompted about the same on the screen.
If you go down further, there are some conditions that need to be met, such as:
– The phone should be in working condition and not more than 3.5 years old.
– It should not be damaged or have missing parts.
– You only need to submit the phone, battery and charger.
– Any 2G, 3G, 4G device will be accepted under the exchange offer.
– Handsets that are locked to operator will not be accepted.
Documents to carry, plans and benefits
Thanks to eKYC, you no longer need to carry all the documents to the store. Simply carry your Aadhaar card or the 12-digit number, and that should be more than enough. In case you are porting from your existing operator to Reliance Jio, you will need to carry the porting code.
Talking about tariff, there are three plans to choose from. Users who purchase JioPhone under exchange offer need to make an additional refill of Rs 594, which will offer six months validity (Rs 99 per month), and get 500MB daily data. For 28 days, users get up to 14GB data, and for six months, users get 84GB data. And as a part of the exchange program, users also get 6GB additional data, which will be in the form of a voucher priced at Rs 101. In total, users get 90GB data over a period of six months (500MB per day), along with unlimited calls and roaming.
There are two other plans too. While benefits like unlimited calling, unlimited roaming and 28 days validity remain the same, the free bundled data changes across plans. The Rs 49 plan offers 1GB data throughout the month, and 50 free SMS, whereas the Rs 153 plan offers 1.5GB daily data and unlimited SMS (cap of 100 per day).
