Reliance JioPhone is more than feature phone, or as it is commonly known, it is a ‘Smart’ feature phone. Ever since its unveiling, it has caused quite the buzz, especially in tier II and tier III cities. While many wait for Reliance Jio to resume the sales for the phone, a seller has listed the JioPhone on Amazon India. The JioPhone is listed on Amazon India, and is being sold by ‘gupta communications’ with a price tag of Rs 1,690. Additionally, there is also a delivery charge of Rs 100, which takes the overall price of the feature phone to Rs 1,790. Not surprisingly, this is contradictory to what the JioPhone is all about. When it goes on sale, it can actually be purchased for only Rs 1,500, which too will be refunded when you return the device after three years. So essentially, the JioPhone is effectively priced at Rs zero. Also Read - Jio Freedom Plans 2021: Jio launches 5 new prepaid plans with no daily data limit - check details
Another thing to note here apart from the higher price tag is that the listing on Amazon India claims that the JioPhone is a dual-SIM model. However, this is not the case as the JioPhone originally has only one SIM slot and will work only with the Jio 4G SIM card. Everything about this listing then feels like a big hoax, and you shouldn’t fall for it. This is no doubt a case of people who have managed to get their hands on a JioPhone selling it at a higher price. We again advice a lot of caution, and suggest our readers not fall for it.
The JioPhone was announced last year at the Reliance AGM, where it was also announced that the phone will be Made in India. According to recent reports, Reliance has moved the JioPhone production to India after facing supply issues in China. JioPhone comes pre-loaded with the apps for messaging, and entertainment among others. The Jio TV features more than 400 live TV channels as well as JioMusic and JioCinema, which give access to the latest in entertainment in multiple regional languages.
