RIM has issued a warning to people on Twitter who want to buy the current BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices off the Internet. RIM contends that firstly buying the developer devices in black is an illegal activity and then it drops a bombshell saying that all the Dev Alpha devices will be disabled after the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones are launched. While the first bit seems like a hollow threat, because people who will want a device will get it one way or the other. The second bit is definitely a deterrent, as the device could be rendered useless in a matter of weeks as RIM is scheduled to launch the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones on January 30.
