Google Pixel and Android One smartphones have the distinct advantage of running stock Android, the user interface that is developed by Google and is touted as the lightest and most efficient UI for Android smartphones. And while other smartphones run their own manufacturer-developed overlays, it’s always been possible to install a different launcher on your phone to change the look and feel, and also the way you interact with it. One of the best stock Android launchers has been the Rootless Launcher by developer Amir Zaidi.
And while it was previously a bit difficult to get hold of this launcher, XDA Developers reports that the Rootless Launcher is now available on the Google Play Store, thereby making it easy to download and use on most compatible smartphones. The launcher is based on Android’s open source Launcher3 and is merged with decompiled Pixel launcher resources, according to the report. The app uses the Pixel Launcher’s original package name, which allows it to retain some functions and be released on the Google Play Store, by adopting Rootless Pixel Bridge.
It’s compatible with most smartphones, but because of the similarities with the actual Pixel launcher, it isn’t compatible with Google Pixel devices for the time being. However, Pixel users need not use this launcher, as they already have access to both the latest version of Android as well as its dedicated stable launcher. However, other devices can get a functional and stable version of stock Android through the Rootless Launcher, which will have their phones running similar to Google Pixel and Android One devices.

There are various other similar launchers as well, including Lawnchair Launcher. Apart from this, users have the option to load on different launchers with additional features, such as the popular Nova Launcher, Microsoft Launcher, and more.
